Patient: P40016

Female, a former smoker (pack a day for 20 years) who had quit 36 years before diagnosis, was screened with no symptoms at age 71, had additional scans for suspicious nodules and diagnosed 15 months after first scan with Stage 1B. Had surgery (wedge resection) and no other treatments and a clear scan 5 months later. Persistent cough led to PET 4 months later which showed recurrence: Stage IV lung cancer with metastases to brain, bones and adrenal glands. Deceased 2 months later. Family history of lung cancer (father at age 71), pancreatic cancer (brother at age 66), sister (colon cancer at age 72) and two nieces (ovarian at age 40 and colon cancer at age 58).
